TransferPortl

TransferPortl is a website aiming to predict college football transfer destinations, and to calculate a Transfer Vulnerability Score (TVS) for all players based on past transfer indicators.

Model Approach

TransferPortl combines historical transfer data, player statistics, recruiting rankings, and coaching movement patterns to predict which players are likely to enter the transfer portal and where they might land. The site also estimates NIL market values based on a player's production, position, remaining eligibility, and when available, NIL contract information on similar players. These models are trained on five years of transfer portal history and are continuously refined as new data becomes available.

What is TVS?

Transfer Vulnerability Score (TVS) predicts the likelihood a player will enter the transfer portal. It uses a logistic regression model trained on over 90,000 historical roster records matched to portal entries since 2021. Key factors include team transfer history, talent level, conference, position, and class year.

Data Sources

All player statistics, roster data, recruiting rankings, and transfer portal information comes from the College Football Data API. Player bios and headshots are sourced from ESPN. Coaching staff information is compiled from official team athletics websites.

Limitations

All predictions and valuations on this site are estimates generated by statistical models. They are intended for informational and entertainment purposes only. Market valuations are not appraisals and should not be used for financial decisions. Transfer predictions are probabilistic and do not represent insider knowledge. Player data is updated regularly but may contain errors or lag behind real-time developments.
